Book 1, Revamped Art: Pedro Páramo by Juan Rulfo

Thanks to the great comments from my friends in the last Pedro Paramo post, I am instituting a new element to PRETTY DEAD TREES: the Revamp! I'll take your suggestions and give it one last go.

It was suggested that the big black title block in the upper lefthand corner took away from the image. After studying it, I had to agree. So I ran with the old photo motif and decided to incorporate an old looking (possibly blood spattered ) label. And here's what came out of that:

I think it looks much better. But what do you think?

Way to go! I think you got it right this time. The title box blends really well and has the same feel as the image. I like the font and the border is great.

Well, thank you, thank you!

I have to agree. The original title box was too invasive on this incredible image. I think that this flows much better and is more reflective of the overall style of the image also. Great work!

Fascinating!
I've took it to illustrate my post over Pedro Páramo. If you don't agree, I'll remove it.

Hello Núria,

Using the cover on your blog is fine! Thanks for the link!

Hi - I am going to use this to illustrate a blog post and will link back. Hope this is ok. Love the cover.

You need to speak to the book publisher about using your rendering for the cover of Pedro Paramo. Your cover would fit the book PERFECTLY. I love that book, but your rendering would make people even more intrigued. Please, suggest this to them.
